It is the key to the information of your company. Simple passwords\nlike &#8220;123456,\u201d &#8220;password&#8221; or words or names are easy for\nattackers to guess. The use and protection of strong passwords are necessary in\norder to safeguard access to data and systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your passwords are strictly personal and\nshould be used only by you to access the company information systems. Follow\nthe companies Password Policy by using strong passwords. Others should not be\nable to guess your password. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keep Secret:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep your passwords secret, never write\nyour passwords or user credentials and do not share your passwords to third\nparties, or to a colleague, an IT administrator or your manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Use strong passwords: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use a mnemonic to compose and remember your password. Do not use words or personal information \u2013 your name, your children\u2019s names, birth dates, etc. &#8211; in any language. Criminals use programs that try every word in the dictionary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Company password policy:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.It must be at least 10 characters long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.It must contain at least one character following groups of characters: Uppercase letters (A-Z), Lowercase letters (a-z), Numbers (0-9), Symbols (!@#$%^&amp;*\u2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.It cannot match any of your past 8 passwords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.It cannot contain characters which match your username.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.You cannot change your password more often than once in a 24 hour period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Others:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Use <strong>separate<\/strong> passwords for<strong> work<\/strong> and <strong>personal<\/strong> accounts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Reboot at least once per week your computer or if asked to do so by patch installations or your IT department. Some security updates will only be effective after completely restarting your machine. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Change your passwords immediately when requested by your IT department or when it is suspected to be leaked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Use your company credentials outside the company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Re-use passwords. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Remove or disable the computer\u2019s firewall\nor anti-virus software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Click on the link below to download issue 2 of the TKH IT Security Newsletter.
