How long have you been working for TKH Airport Solutions?
I am going to start working on the 1st of September.
What can you tell us about your role in TKH Airport Solutions?
As a Hardware Engineer at TKH Airport Solutions, my responsibilities encompass a wide array of crucial tasks. At the heart of my role lies the design, development, and optimization of our hardware products. In addition, I am charged with the creation and exhaustive testing of prototypes to ascertain their reliability and robustness under varying conditions. Collaboration is an integral part of my role; working hand-in-hand with software engineers, project managers, and other vital stakeholders ensures that our collective goals are met. My duties also extend to the detailed documentation of my designs, guaranteeing the alignment of our products with regulatory standards, and offering technical support for the hardware once implemented.
What does your typical workday look like?
A typical workday begins with a review and prioritization of tasks, followed by a team meeting to discuss updates and ongoing issues. The majority of the day is spent on hardware design and development, as well as testing and troubleshooting of prototypes. Collaboration with other team members is crucial, especially with software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of components. Documentation of design changes and continuous learning to stay updated with industry trends and new technologies are also integral parts of the daily routine.
What specialism can you offer to your colleagues?
I am specialized in designing power supplies. I can help troubleshoot power-related issues in the hardware, guide decisions on selecting components, and ensure the products meet the necessary electrical safety standards.
Can you tell us a bit about your personal life?
I have several hobbies such as playing football, jogging, swimming and reading books. I usually play football with some friends on the weekends in Enschede. My favourite book is 1984 by George Orwell.
What is on top of your bucket list?
Topping my bucket list is the challenge of running a full marathon. The mental and physical endurance required fascinates me, and I see it as the ultimate test of my fitness and determination. It’s not just about the race itself, but also about the intensive training leading up to it, during which I would push my limits and learn about perseverance and self-discipline.
What is your favourite travel destination?
Ecuador, and particularly my hometown of Quito, holds the title of my favorite travel destination. The city’s vibrant culture and the nostalgic connection I feel towards it make it an unparalleled place to visit. And let’s not forget the food! From hearty locro soup to delicious ceviches, the cuisine alone is worth the trip. It’s a place that has my heart.
What can somebody wake you up for at night?
Somebody could wake me up in the middle of the night for a chance to witness the Northern Lights. The thought of seeing this incredible natural phenomenon, with vibrant colours is so exhilarating to me that I’d gladly forego sleep for it.
What does a typical Sunday look like for you?
On a typical Sunday, I like to start my day off slowly with a relaxed breakfast. Then, I often spend my morning immersed in a good book. Come afternoon, I usually head to the kitchen to experiment with some recipes—it’s a great creative outlet. I wrap up the day with a peaceful walk in a nearby park.
What is the best advice that you ever received ?
One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received was ‘Don’t be afraid to fail.’ This advice taught me to see failure not as a dead-end, but as a stepping stone to success. It encouraged me to take risks, to venture outside of my comfort zone, and to see each setback as an opportunity to learn and grow.
What else do your colleagues not know about you yet?
A tidbit about me that my colleagues might not know is that I’m a bit of a history buff. I have a keen interest in ancient civilizations, and I enjoy reading up on them in my free time.
