Since the president has opened the new runway on Sabiha Airport, you might assume our largest CEDD project has come to a conclusion. The truth is that the new runway is regularly used for operations, where our LED portfolio lights are doing were they were built for.
On the taxiways, the CEDD system is still work in progress. Last week Coen, Coen and Gerbrandt paid another visit to Istanbul to check on the situation.
For Coen R. this week was also regarded as the conclusion of his probation period, you could consider it a probation exam. Our main aim during this week was to get a more detailed picture of the current situation of the CEDD system. With this knowledge we can support the installation team on the Airport on what work needs to be done. In this phase, 227 circuits will have to be finished with about 5500 lights, a significant job.
Some interesting facts:
- The end customer would like to have the project finished in April
- 68 circuits are still in a construction zone
- They think finishing this will take just a few weeks
- A Turkish week usually lasts a month (quoting the customer)
- Driving through mud might make your car dirty
- If the Airport is operational it is quite difficult to continue working on the circuits
- If Osman (our local distributor) invites you for dinner, you don’t need breakfast
