When you travel for your work, or have to work outside of the office, chances are you’ll need an internet connection to perform your tasks. But, how do you know what networks are safe? And how can you protect yourself and your data from getting leaked or stolen?

What to watch out for
- Open networks in public spaces: Chances are, these are also more easily accessible from the back end, and pose a greater risk for your privacy
- Misspelled or double names: These can be outside parties imitating a company you trust. When in doubt, ask the staff of the place you’re at!
- Log in pages or redirects: Never log in using passwords or other forms of verification
- A bad connection: This can be caused by outside interferences
How to stay safe?
- Use a VPN: For example the one provided with the laptop!
- Occasionally remove unknown or unused networks from your device
- Don’t use websites or apps that expose sensitive information, such as banking accounts, government apps, or log in details.
- Prefer your cellular data over unknown networks
