Who is Who: Gerbrandt van Staveren

To get to know each other a bit more, we have launched this new section called ‘Who is Who’. Hopefully we can feature all our colleagues over here. Submit your profile via this link! Every Wednesday we will post someone else. Enjoy reading!

How long have you been working for TKH Airport Solutions?

Officially since September 1st 2019, but unofficially since the first Helispot project on Schiphol

What can you tell us about your role in TKH Airport Solutions?

My role is to enable the growth of CEDD revenues. I do this by:

  1. Building the bridge between customers and the CEDD technology: consultative selling
  2. Building the projects & services department necessary for implementing and supporting CEDD
  3. Managing large projects (like Sabiha)

What does your typical workday look like?

Coffee, coffee, coffee, Standup with the team, coffee, phone call with sales, preparing proposal, coffee, project progress meeting, lunch, coffee, review on software development, project meeting with customer, escalation on service issue, urgent emails, dinner, rework on proposal, sleep

What specialism can you offer to your colleagues?

  • Putting oil in the machine: get things moving, plan actions, define strategy
  • Bring together different perspectives: technology, user, stakeholder, manager find the common language
  • Business development, project management, consultancy

Can you tell us a bit about your personal life? Family, hobbies, etc.

I moved to Twente at the end of 2019 with my wife and 2 kids (7 and 9). Coming from the crowded surrounding of The Hague we took this step to find a more relaxed pace, being surrounded by nature instead of people running around. I love to empty my head after a busy day working on our new house, maintaining the garden, or play with my kids.

What is on top of your bucket list?

  • First: my list is a rotating list (every new day gives a new perspective)
  • Second: I believe happiness comes from small things, not chasing large ones
  • Third: I wouldn’t hesitate if I got the chance to eat at Noma in Kopenhagen, fly in a helicopter or buy a Green Egg

What is your favorite travel destination?

For now Africa, but I haven’t seen enough of the world to be really sure….

What can somebody wake you up for at night?

Leaving for holidays

Croissants & Cappuccino, playing with the kids, some small work around the house, a walk or trip on the mountainbike, enjoying a visit from friends or family, enjoy good food

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, but use them to grow
