Personal data is all information about an identified natural person. This means that information is either directly about someone or can be traced back to this person.
Personal data is an essential part of an organization’s growth and success. Protection of the information is necessary for any activities that involve the collection and processing such as: product support and customization processes, collecting for marketing promotions, CV’s, handling employment-related data, etc.
Risks
The risks of events where personal data have been compromised are:
– Reputational damage.
– Increased supervision/investigation.
– Fines.
Personal Data
GDPR is an European Union regulation for all individuals within the EU, to protect personal data. If the company does not comply to this regulation it can get a fine.
Others
Do:
– The right thing, be fair and transparent about what you do with the personal data.
– Use only the necessary personal data.
– Maintain accurate and reliable records.
– Protect and ensure the personal data is not shared unless necessary.
Don’t:
– Use it any other way, you said you were going to do.
– Keep personal data longer than necessary. If you suspect that an incident or breach has taken place or if you receive information from an external party about a possible incident, direct contact the responsible person and provide as many details as possible.
