Who is Who: Thijs Gritter

To get to know each other a bit more, we have launched this new section called ‘Who is Who’. Hopefully we can feature all our colleagues over here. Submit your profile via this link! Enjoy reading!

What can you tell us about your role in TKH Airport Solutions?

I will work as a project engineer in the team of Gerbrandt van Staveren, where I will be working together with Coen Hobert on, among other projects, AGL layouts.

Can you tell us a bit about your personal life?

I was born and raised in Amersfoort and moved to Delft to study Aerospace Engineering. I graduated last November from the Space Flight master. A few weeks ago I moved to Enschede because my girlfriend found a job as a veterinarian just across the border.

I love to sport; I started with Korfball and Ice Skating when I was six and I also like to run and to cycle on my racing bike. Furthermore, I go skiing every year and I occasionally play soccer and tennis. My other favourite activities are playing piano and listening to music. Going to festivals and concerts is the thing I miss most during the current pandemic.

What is on top of your bucket list?

Climbing Mount Everest

What is your favorite travel destination?

The mountains, particularly in Italy

What can somebody wake you up for at night?

Italian food and a skiing holiday

What does a typical Sunday look like for you?

I do not have a typical Sunday, but on my ideal Sunday I would wake up without an alarm and have a nice brunch at around 11:00. During the rest of the day, I would go cycling, watching sports or a series and I would play the guitar and/or the piano.

What is the best advice that you ever received?

If you make a mistake while playing the piano or giving a presentation, just continue and pretend you did not screw up, as most people won’t even notice that you made a mistake.

What else do your colleagues not know about you yet?

Next to playing the piano, I also know how to play the guitar and I like to sing along with music. Furthermore, I would love to play in a band.

Another thing that you don’t know about me yet is that for the past two months, I have worked part-time as pallbearer (kist drager) at funerals. This was a very honourful job to do.

Finally, a few dilemmas. Make a choice!

Coffee or Tea? Tea

Summer or Winter? Winter
